Startup Marketplace,

Echelon 2012 Kicks off with a look at how the Asian Tech Scene can be Awesomer

Echelon 2012 is all set for 11th and 12th June at the University
Cultural Center, National University of Singapore. 50 of Asia’s best startups,
over 40 international and regional speakers and 2 days of high-impact
networking, it is definitely going to be awesomer.

March 2012, Singapore — e27 kicked off Echelon 2012, Asia’s premier tech startup event, on 5th March 2012 with the launch of the official Echelon website, www.echelon.e27.sg/SG2012

With this year’s “We Bring the Awesomer in Tech” tagline, the event is all set to excite and inspire the Asian tech entrepreneurship community. Echelon 2012 is a two-day double-track event with a demo pit of regional start-ups and various workshops. The event will be held on 11th and 12th June 2012 at University Cultural Centre in National University of Singapore.

Speakers, the Tech Rockstars on the Echelon Stage

Echelon 2012 attendees can expect to hear from top-notch entrepreneurs from both the Asian region and abroad. Some of the confirmed speakers in the Echelon 2012 lineup are David Weekly of PBWorks, Weston Hankins of 9flats, Danny Wirianto of Merah Putih Incubators, Clint Nelson of Startup Labs and Startup Weekend, Ulf Waschbusch who was formerly from Social
Gaming Network, Vincent Lauria from Lefora and Michael Smith from Spuul.

Startup Marketplace, Exhibiting Asia’s Best Tech Startups

Another key focus of Echelon is to find the best startups in Asia. Since early this year, the e27 team has been actively searching for strong tech startups in the region to be part of the Startup Marketplace, the startup exhibition at Echelon 2012. Online applications are still ongoing and interested startups can apply here.

Past Echelon alumni such as TenCube, FlutterScape, Cardinal Blue, Moglue and FashionSpace has since gone on to receive funding rounds, made headlining exits, join prestigious acceleration programs like 500 Startups and receive coverage from well-read digital media such as TechCrunch.

Satellites, the Regional Hunt for the Next Big Asian Tech Startup

Last year, the e27 team held the Echelon Satellites for the first time. The Satellites were the regional outreach and start-up pitching component the lead up to the main Echelon event. 2011 Satellites covered Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Hong Kong, and help uncovered some of Asia’s best startups such as Workcrowd, Fetch Plus Asia and Flipter. This year, the Satellites are scheduled to cover 6 countries – Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan and Tokyo.

The expansion and change of the Satellite countries is part of e27’s efforts to engage the rest of the regional communities and connect the region.

drew the support of the community and connected corporate organizations.

Since then, e27 has transformed into a full-fledged media and events agency that serves the web technology ecosystem in the region. e27 has worked with various government agencies, corporate entities and community organizations most which, have a long standing support of what we do. e27 also runs an annual flagship event – Echelon (formally UnConference) since 2008, with the latest edition in 2011 attracting more than a thousand attendees from over 15 different countrie.
