The 2012 Digital Book Festival opens for three days from September 20-22 at the National Digital Library.
Hosted together by the National Digital Library and Korea Electronic Publishing Association (KEPA), around 50 digital publishing companies including Yes24, uPaper, Barobook, Mac+, Book Jam and Soluwin will take part in the 2012 Digital Book Festival.
A ‘Digital Book Expo’ will be held where participants can experience digital books for themselves on around 300 mobile devices, at the “Digital Self-publishing Event” they can try out publishing, and a seminar will be held to build business partnership modlels and cutting edge technology based on mobile integration.
The ‘special’ expo will showcase 30 books from digital award-winning Korean writers, the library’s future and digital libraries, and books from seven companies participating in the Frankfurt Book Fair under the topics of content, libraries, digital books and the globe.
The standard expo will showcase content published by companies specializing in digital books, multimedia app books, digital book platform services, digital book solutions and content, and all content, multimedia, platform and solutions from digital book companies in Korea.
At the invited expo, as part of the free font policy by KEPA and The Font Group, seven fonts will be given out for free. At the self-publishing experience, anyone can quickly produce their own EPUB digital book using their content and even upload it to 10 different distribution channels,
The expo is a program for everyone including publishers, reporters, media staff, IT firms and libraries, and offers a wide range of interesting and interactive exhibits where participants can directly see Korea’s top digital book technology and high quality eBooks.

국립중앙도서관과 한국전자출판협회가 공동 주최하고, 예스24, 리디북스, 유페이퍼, 바로북, 맥플러스, 북잼, 성도솔루윈 등 50여개 전자책 기업이 참여하는 ‘2012 디지털 북페스티벌’ 행사는 300여대의 모바일 단말기로 3천여 종의 전자책을 직접 보고 체험할 수 있는 ‘전자책 전시’와 직접 전자책을 출간할 수 있는 ‘전자책 셀프출판 체험 행사’, 모바일 융합시대의 전자책 첨단 기술과 비즈니스 협력 모델을 구축하기 위해 ‘세미나, 컨퍼런스’가 매일 개최된다.
특별전시에서는 ▲대한민국 디지털작가상 수상작 30여편, ▲도서관의 미래, 디지털도서관 ▲교과서의 미래, 디지털교과서, ▲프랑크푸르트도서전에 참가하는 7개 업체의 티저 전시 등 콘텐츠, 도서관, 디지털교과서, 글로벌이라는 주제로 다양한 전자책 관련 콘텐츠와 제품을 선보인다.
일반전시에서는 ▲전자책 전문출판사들의 콘텐츠 퍼블리싱, ▲멀티미디어 앱북, ▲전자책 플랫폼 서비스, ▲전자책 솔루션 등 콘텐츠, 멀티미디어, 플랫폼, 솔루션 등 국내 전자책 산업의 모든 것을 보여준다.
초빙전시에서는 ▲한국전자출판협회와 더폰트그룹이 공동으로 진행하는 무료 폰트 보급 정책의 일환으로 한국전자출판협회폰트 7종을 현장에서 무료로 나누어준다.
전자책 셀프출판 체험 행사에서는 사전 신청을 한 작가, 출판인, 일반인이 자신의 콘텐츠를 현장에서 EPUB전자책이나 멀티미디어 앱북을 직접 제작하고 10여개 유통채널에 등록까지 원스톱 전자책 출판을 체험해 볼 수 있다.
전자책 세미나, 컨퍼런스는 9월 20일(목)에는 한국전자출판학회 주관으로 ‘한국전자출판학회 전자출판 학술세미나’가, 9월21일(금)에는 국립중앙도서관 주관으로 ‘디지털도서관의 미래 발전을 위한 상생 협력방안을 모색하는 심포지엄’ 이, 9월20(목)일부터 22일(토)까지 총 10개 기업이 ‘스마트퍼블리싱 컨퍼런스’와 ‘전자책 생태계 구축을 위한 전략 세미나’가 진행된다.
이번 ‘2012 디지털 북페스티벌’ 행사는 출판사, 언론사, 방송사, 이통사, 단말기업체, 디지털콘텐츠업체, 도서관, IT기술업체 등 관계자를 위한 프로그램은 물론 일반 국민들이 관람하고 체험할 수 있는 다양한 프로그램을 제공하여, 대한민국의 우수한 전자책 기술과 뛰어난 고품질 전자책을 직접 보고 들을 수 있다.
