Today top widget service Wizard Factory came to an end after 3 years and 11 months. It was a measure taken to focus all efforts on SomCloud and as of midnight tonight all widgets were taken down.
Widgets, which were introduced to the Korean web for the first time in 2006 were significant to Wizard Works. Over the past few years, many people have known Wizard Works as a widget company and thanks to this, when the widget market first opened up they were able to reap many benefits.
However, from 2009 Wizard Works moved to the mobile industry and following this acted as a master contents provider, creating over 50 types of apps for SK Telecom and KT. Also this year, the company introduced cloud utilities in Korea for the first time and are planning a second major change.
“I think it was a blessing for Wizard Works to be able to succeed in marketing unknown widgets, make contracts with three portal sites, and see the process of something popular rise and fall during the past six years.” said CEO of Wizard Works, Charles Pyo.
Wizard Works Pyo expressed his apologies to those who have helped him over the years but also promised a better future with the current projects which WizardWorks in continuing with.
