The MDG Society will give a presentation at The Grand Green Challenge Conference (GGCC) on November 26 at Dream Hall, KT Olleh Square in Gwanghwamun. The GGCC is hosted by TIDE Institute and sponsored by The Blue Houses’s Green Growth Korea.
GGCC is a place where prospects and visions about future green innovations are brought together as a joint knowledge sharing forum similar to TED. The 10th conference will see presentations by Yoo Dong-joo, Kim Joo-heon and Hwang Jin-sol from The MDG Society under the topic of ‘Dreaming of a Sustainable World – International Environment Issues and Millennium Development Goals’.
Kim Joo-heon will introduce the global TEEB initiative, started as an alternative to supplement the GDP focused economic structure which doesn’t reflect the natural economic value from preserving ecosystems and biological diversity. Based on decades of research, “TEEB: the Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity” economically reviews the environment and guides the management of biodiversity through lectures. using this to explain UN MDGs and DSGs.
The second speaker, Hwang Jin-sol will present alternatives to fix relative contradictions between environment preservation and economic development. He will explain the conflicting inconsistencies between the MDG and development needed so that developing countries can be independent. Hwang will also touch on the need to address the previous two points through ‘Revitalizing the Carbon Trade Market for Developing Countries’.
The event will be ended with a Q&A session for participants to ask any questions. For more information check the homepage.
