Top 5 Startups at Startup Nations Summit 2014

Startup Nations Summit 2014 in Seoul is now on their third day. One of the biggest highlights of the conference is their World Startup Competition, where over 40 startup teams from all over the world compete for up to $100,000 in cash. Here are the top five finalists for this year’s SNS 2014 World Startup Competition:

neoScores (Belgium)

Bart Van der Roost is here to represent neoScores, a sheet music web app that digitizes traditional sheet music into a more online friendly format. neoScores offers a platform for musicians to share, buy, and sell their scores in a cross-platform app.

Agrivi (Croatia)

Matija Zuli of Agrivi is on a mission to help farmers manage their farming operations via the cloud to improve productivity and be more profitable. Agrivi is a mobile app that let’s farmers
check field conditions, track sales, and get alerts on pest or weather issues.

Pulsate (Ireland)

Patrick Leddy of Pulsate wants to create more engagement with customers for retailers with hardware. Pulsate’s beacon transmits content to customers’ devices based on shopping interests, past purchases, behavioe and location. In addition, Pulsate comes with analytical tools for retailers to better understand their customers in their vicinity.

Hoope (Peru)

Irina Rymshina of Hoope wants to modernize and improve the way people test for the most common and curable sexually transmitted diseases. Hoope is a small medical device paired with a companion app that lets users conveniently test for syphilis, gonorrhea, trichomoniasis and chlamydia infection. The device itself is a small ring-like wearable that let’s you test for diseases in the privacy of your home and at your own convenience. Hoope’s app also displays the test results as well as health recommendations.

SALt (Phillipines)

Aisa Mijeno of the Sustainable Alternative Lighting Corporation (SALt) is a eco-friendly, cost effective lamp powered by tap water and salt. The SALt lamp is powered by a modified version of the Galvanic cell process and an alternative to kerosene fueled lamps.To top it off, the SALt lamp includes a USB port for emergency phone charging.
