On Wednesday, Jobplanet announced that it raised about $8.3 million from venture capital firms, including Qualcomm Ventures, Altos Ventures and Bonangels. Jobplanet is a Korean adaptation of job research service Glassdoor.com.
Since it launched one year ago, the company has raised a total of $10 million from venture capitalists. This month’s funding from American-based venture capitalists could fuel Jobplanet’s race to go global.
“We are thrilled that a foreign venture capital firm like Qualcomm Ventures showed interest in Jobplanet. With more capital, we plan to expand our business into south Asian markets including Thailand, Indonesia, and Taiwan.“ said Hee-Seung Hwang, co-founder of Jobplanet.
Jobplanet, founded in April 2014, allows anonymous users to evaluate their company and employers. It also provides information about companies’ salaries and cultures. As of January, the company has surpassed 3 million monthly viewers and it has user-generated reviews of more than 20,000 companies.
