중소벤처기업부(장관 오영주, 이하 중기부)는 23일 서울 광화문 빌딩에서 중소기업 인공지능(AI) 활용·확산을 위해 ‘중소기업 인공지능(AI) 정책자문단’(이하 정책자문단) 킥오프회의를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 정책 자문단은 지난 9월 국가인공지능위원회가 출범하고, 12월 AI 기본법이 마련되는 등 범정부 차원의 인공지능 지원 노력이 가속화되고 있는 가운데, 중소기업·소상공인의 인공지능 기술 도입·활용을 위한 정책과제를 발굴하고, 정책추진 근거인 ‘(가칭)중소기업 AI 활용·확산 촉진법’ 마련을 위해 구성됐다.
현재 AI는 기술 개발의 시간과 비용을 줄이고, 혁신적인 성과를 창출하는 엔진 역할을 하고 있어, 향후 도입 여부가 기업 경쟁력과 직결되는 상황이다. 하지만 다수 중소기업들은 도입 방법 등에 대한 정보부족, AI 도입과 투자가 향후 수익으로 이어질 지에 대한 불확실성 등으로 인해 도입과 활용이 여전히 저조한 상황이다.
이날 킥오프회의는 인공지능 분야 산․학․연 전문가로 구성된 정책자문단 자문위원 11명에 대한 위촉장 수여 및 운영계획 발표, 정책 자문단 의견 청취와 토론 순으로 진행됐다.
정책자문단에서는 지난해 12월 통과된 AI 기본법상 중소기업 관련 규제 및 대응방안, 정부 중점 지원과제, 해외 인공지능 우수정책 벤치마킹, 학습 데이터 확보·공유 등 다양한 논의를 통해 중소기업 인공지능 활용·확산을 위한 정책과제와 법안 마련을 위한 과제도 제안할 예정이다.
또한 중소기업 관련 기관과 단체를 대상으로 중소기업·소상공인의 AI 도입 현황과 활용 시 애로사항, 도출된 정책과제 등에 대한 업계 의견수렴 등도 진행하고 보완할 예정이다.
중기부는 논의 결과를 바탕으로 컴퓨팅 파워 등 인프라, 양질의 학습 데이터 확보, 자금 및 전문인력 등 중소기업의 인공지능 활용·확산을 위한 주요 분야별 정책과제와 정책의 추진 근거가 될 ‘(가칭)중소기업 AI 활용·확산 촉진법’의 핵심내용을 도출할 계획이다.
오영주 장관은 “인공지능은 모든 영역에서 혁신과 변화를 선도할 게임 체인저이며, 인공지능 기술의 도입과 활용의 주체는 중소기업”이라며 “이번 중소기업 인공지능 자문단과 라운드테이블 운영을 통해 마련될 중소기업 인공지능 정책과 ’(가칭)중소기업 AI 활용·확산 촉진법’은 중소기업이 미래 기술·환경변화에 대응하고 혁신성장을 촉진하여 국가경제에 기여할수 있는 중요한 계기가 될것으로 기대한다”고 밝혔다.

The policy advisory group plans to propose policy tasks and tasks for drafting legislation for the use and expansion of artificial intelligence in small and medium-sized enterprises through various discussions, including regulations and response measures related to small and medium-sized enterprises under the Basic Act on AI passed in December of last year, key government support tasks, benchmarking of excellent overseas artificial intelligence policies, and securing and sharing learning data.
