중소벤처기업부(장관 오영주, 이하 중기부)는 5일 글로벌 시장에서 AI 기술 혁신을 바탕으로 다양한 산업과 융합하여 새로운 시장을 만들고 경제적 가치를 창출하는 고성장 분야 AI 스타트업을 육성하기 위해 ‘AI 핵심 분야 및 유망 AX 스타트업 육성 사업’을 공고한다고 밝혔다.
이번 사업은 지난 달 공고한 ‘초격차 스타트업 1000+ 프로젝트’ 3단계 프로그램 중 올해 신설한 1단계 ‘Micro 초격차’ 프로그램으로, 작년 7월 AI 생태계 내에서 새로운 시장을 창출하고 성장시킬 수 있는 고성장 분야 AI 스타트업을 집중 육성하기 위해 발표한 ‘초격차 AI 스타트업 레벨업 전략’(’24.7.10발표)을 이행하는 첫 번째 신규 사업이다.
이번 공고로 총 20개의 유망 AI‧AX 스타트업을 선발하며, 내용은 다음과 같다.
◆ AI 핵심 분야 사업화
sLLM, 제조‧바이오‧콘텐츠 등 고성장 분야의 유망 AI 스타트업 5개사를 선발하여 기술 고도화 등을 위한 기술사업화 자금 최대 1.5억원을 지원한다. 또한 분야별 특성에 따라 주관기관인 ‘인공지능융합사업단’이 보유한 GPU 기반 AI 컴퓨팅 자원, 실증센터 등의 인프라 활용도 지원한다.
◆ 유망 AX 스타트업 육성
경제‧사회적으로 성과 창출이 용이한 제조, 바이오, 콘텐츠 등 3대 분야에서, 대‧중견‧중소기업 등 수요기업의 제품과 서비스에 적용하여 고도화 할 수 있는 혁신 AI 기술을 보유한 AX 스타트업 15개사를 선발한다. 선정한 기업에는 협업 자금 8천만원과 신규 판로 확보 등을 지원한다.
이번 공고는 5일부터 오는 25일까지 신청을 받을 예정이며, 동 사업에 선발되어 지원 받은 스타트업 중 성과 평가를 통해 우수 성과를 창출한 스타트업은 ‘초격차 스타트업’ 사업으로 연계하여 글로벌 시장에 진출할 수 있도록 추가로 지원할 예정이다.
한편 이번 공고 이후 ‘초격차 AI 스타트업 레벨업 전략’과 관련한 후속 사업을 지속적으로 공고할 계획이다.
우선 전년도에 이어 글로벌 대기업과 유망 국내 AI 스타트업 간 수요기반 협업을 통해 사업화 유도와 판로를 확보해 주는 ‘AI 초격차 챌린지’를 2월말에 공고할 계획이다.
특히 올해는 LG전자와 함께 ‘온디바이스 AI’ 분야 디바이스 제품을 기존 노트북에서 TV 등으로 협업 분야를 확대한다. 또한 퀄컴 코리아와 신규로 ‘버티칼 AI’ 분야에서 협업 기회를 제공할 예정이며, 그 외 신규 빅테크 기업과의 협업을 계속 확대할 계획이다.
다음으로, 지역별 주력산업을 영위하는 지역 선도 중소 제조기업의 AI 기술 수요를 기반으로 혁신 AI 스타트업과 AX 협업을 매칭하는 ‘AI 지역 주력산업 연계 프로젝트’를 4월에 공고할 계획이다.
오영주 장관은 “AI는 산업을 넘어 국가의 운명까지 좌우하는 핵심 분야로, 고성장 분야의 AI 스타트업들의 성장을 위해 작년에 ‘초격차 AI 스타트업 레벨업 전략’을 발표한 바 있다”면서 “이번 사업은 레벨업 전략을 이행하는 첫 사업으로, 전략이 차질 없이 이행되도록 후속 지원사업을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.
