세계경제포럼의 DEI 등대 프로그램은 산업별로 다양성, 형평성, 포용성을 실현한 우수 사례를 선정해, 글로벌 기업 및 공공 부문 리더들에게 모범적인 전략과 실천 방법을 공유한다.
이번 DEI 등대에서 슈나이더 일렉트릭은 국제구호개발 ‘NGO 플랜 인터내셔널(Plan International)’과 협력해 진행하고 있는 재생에너지 활용 프로그램(DESFERS)의 공로를 인정받았다.
슈나이더 일렉트릭은 2019년부터 여성 경제 자립을 돕기 위한 프로그램 ‘DESFERS’를 시행하며 세네갈, 말리, 니제르 등 사헬 지역 여성들을 대상으로 녹색 기술 교육, 기술학교 시설 개선, 여성 창업 등을 지원해 지속가능한 에너지 분야로의 진출을 돕고 있다. 이에 사회적 제약으로 경제 참여가 어려운 농촌 지역 여성들 역시 실질적인 변화를 경험하며 새로운 기회를 얻고 있다.
해당 프로그램은 슈나이더 일렉트릭이 가진 글로벌 사회공헌 목표인 ‘청년 교육 및 창업 지원(Youth Education & Entrepreneurship)’의 일환으로 진행되며, 2025년까지 100만 명의 청년, 특히 여성들에게 에너지 전환에 필요한 교육을 제공, 1만여 명의 기업가를 지원하는 것을 목표로 한다.
현재까지 DESFERS 프로그램을 통해 총 7,204명의 여성들이 녹색 기술 교육을 이수했으며, 6,099개의 여성 주도형 녹색 기업이 창출됐다. 또한 2만여 명의 여성들이 재생 가능 에너지 솔루션과 금융 지원에 접근할 수 있게 됐다. 이처럼 슈나이더 일렉트릭은 교육, 멘토링, 금융 접근성 등을 포함한 강력한 생태계를 구축함으로써 여성이 지속 가능한 에너지 전환을 주도할 수 있도록 지원하고 있다.

Since 2019, Schneider Electric has been implementing the program 'DESFERS' to help women achieve economic independence, and has been supporting women in the Sahel region, including Senegal, Mali, and Niger, by providing green technology education, improving technical school facilities, and supporting women's entrepreneurship, helping them advance into the sustainable energy sector. As a result, women in rural areas who have difficulty participating in the economy due to social restrictions are also experiencing real changes and gaining new opportunities.
The program is being carried out as part of Schneider Electric's global social contribution goal of 'Youth Education & Entrepreneurship', and aims to provide education necessary for energy transition to 1 million young people, especially women, and support 10,000 entrepreneurs by 2025.
To date, a total of 7,204 women have completed green technology training through the DESFERS program, 6,099 women-led green businesses have been created, and over 20,000 women have gained access to renewable energy solutions and financial support.
