공작기계·로봇 자동화 솔루션 전문기업 스맥이 현대위아 공작기계 사업부 인수에 참여해 글로벌 공작기계 시장 패권 경쟁에 본격적으로 뛰어든다.
스맥(SMEC)은 현대위아 공작기계 사업부를 약 3,400억 원 규모로 인수했다고 19일 밝혔다. 이번 계약은 바이아웃 전문 사모펀드사인 릴슨PE와 공동으로 진행하며, 스맥이 1,183억 원을 투자해 34.8% 지분을 확보한다.
특히, 금번 딜에서 현대위아의 적극적인 협조 및 지원을 확보함으로서 신설법인의 안정적인 출발을 도모할 계획이다. 현대위아가 수십 년간 축적한 사업 경험과 운영 노하우를 바탕으로 경영 안정화와 지속적인 성장을 위한 적극적인 협업이 이루어질 예정이다.
이번 인수를 통해 국내 2위 공작기계 업체와 함께 스맥은 업계 판도를 재편하며 글로벌 시장 공략에 속도를 낼 계획이다. 현대위아 공작기계 사업부는 자동차 산업을 비롯한 다양한 산업군에서 최고 수준의 기술력을 보유한 핵심 사업부로 평가받고 있다. 현대위아 공작기계 사업부의 첨단 기술력과 스맥의 정밀 가공 기술이 결합될 경우 하이앤드 장비부터 범용 장비까지 아우르는 제품 포트폴리오에서 강점이 더욱 강화될 것으로 전망된다.
