Startup investment company Coolidge Corner Investment will hold the fourth “Young Entrepreneur Competition”, an event which aims to inspire Korea’s young minds with a business mentality, creative ideas and provide a chance for investment.
Any young Korean entrepreneurs and any foreigners currently studying in Korea with an original idea can apply for enter the competition. Entrepreneurs and early startups who are selected will have the opportunity to receive investment funding to start their business. Entrepreneurs with venture experience and experts from various fields will also will also provide insight on how to successfully operate a business.
Those interested can apply for the competition at the Coolidge Corner Investment homepage by downloading the application form and sending it by e-mail with the necessary documents. From July, business plans will be able to be directly entered into the OpenTrade website. Those teams that make it through to the first round of candidates will then make a presentation. Selected final teams will then have the chance to receive 10 weeks of incubating classes free of charge.
Recently many universities and government institutions have been hosting entrepreneurship competitions to encourage young business men and women, but it is unprecedented for a private venture capital company to regularly host such an event. Opening this month, it will be the fourth competition since the first one was held in 2010. Selected teams from previous competitions include Expy and Samsara with 10 teams from the third competition still taking part in a 16 week incubation program.
Additionally, from the finalist teams, one person will be selected to receive 2,500,000 won support from the Lee & Jung scholarship committee in the hope that talented young minds will not give up their dreams of starting their own business.
Coolidge Corner Investment is currently organizing a young entrepreneur investment association and plans to help foster these entrepreneurs by turning creative ideas into businesses through the associations’ funding.

이번 제4회 ‘청년기업가’ 창업경진대회는 쿨리지코너인베스트먼트㈜ 홈페이지(www.ccvc.co.kr)에서 신청서를 다운로드 받아 사업계획서 등 제출서류와 함께 이메일로 접수 가능하며, 7월부터는 오픈트레이드(초기기업 소셜 Site, www.opentrade.co.kr)에서도 사업계획서를 직접 입력할 수 있다. 사업계획서를 기반으로 이루어지는 서류심사를 통해 합격된 1차 합격자는 프레젠테이션 심사 후 합격자에 한하여 벤처스퀘어에서 제공하는 10주 과정의 인큐베이팅 교육과정을 무료로 제공받을 수 있다.
최근 청년창업 활성화를 위해 각 대학 및 정부기관의 주최로 많은 창업경진대회가 실시되고 있으나 사설 벤처캐피탈의 주최로 창업경진대회를 정기적으로 개최하는 것은 이례적인 일이다. 쿨리지코너인베스트먼트㈜는 2010년 1회 경진대회를 시작으로 2012년 6월 네번째 경진대회를 개최한다. 현재까지 본 경진대회를 통해 선발된 제1회 대상팀인 주식회사 엑스피와 제2회 대상팀인 주식회사 삼사라는 자본금 투자를 받아 기업을 운영 중에 있으며 3회 경진대회 2차 합격자 10팀은 16주 인큐베이팅 프로그램이 진행 중이다.
또한, 본 경진대회에서는 최종 합격한 창업팀들에 자본금 투자와 더불어 참가한 대학(원)생들 중 한 명을 선발하여 이앤정장학회(이사장 이북동)의 후원을 받아 250만원의 장학금도 지급한다. 이는 유능한 젊은 청년들이 현실적인 상황 때문에 청년기업가의 꿈을 접지 않도록 하기 위함이다.
창업투자회사 쿨리지코너인베스트먼트㈜는 현재 청년창업 전문 투자조합인 ‘CCVC 인큐베이팅 투자조합’을 결성 중에 있으며, 조합의 재원을 통해 정기적으로 창업경진대회를 개최 및 투자하여 창의적인 아이디어의 사업화를 통하여 청년기업가를 양성할 계획이다.
