Eductech startup CatchItPlay is teaming up with leading Japanese publisher ALC Press to bring its ‘Catch it Play’ English platform to the Japanese market.
Catch It English is a gamified learning app that lets users and friends shoot English problems back and forth to each other. The mobile platform is designed to make learning English more fun by making it competitive, and focuses on sentence order, spelling and choosing correct words. Catch It English won two awards in 2015, including Google Play Korea’s app of the year.
ALC plans to use CatchItPlay’s technology to promote its content to students in a new and effective way. All things going well, the partnership should see a Japanese version of Catch It English released in the first half of this year, with the project currently in the development phase.
“Through the partnership, we will enter the Japanese market where the need for English education is gradually growing. Following this, we are planning to enter other Asian countries such as China,” said CatchItPlay CEO, Wonkyu Choi.
ALC Press is currently a leader in Japan’s language learning market and produces books, academies and magazines for all ages. It’s best selling series ‘Kikutan’, which has sold over 3 million copies, will be used as the main source of content for developing the new app.
