Fashion in Korea is a big deal, and people usually like to go out looking their best. New venture The Clozet is a great way to try out new bags, and now dresses, before splashing out on something expensive.

The startup, which only launched last year, lets members rent bags for short periods of time for a monthly fee. During that time, they are free to switch bags up to three times, with many different styles from casual to lavish. Earlier today, the service announced that it has now added dresses to its lineup.

When selecting and ordering a dress, you’ll get two delivered — one that you’ve chosen, and the other chosen especially for you by a stylist matching your shape, job and other characteristics. All up, subscribers get the chance to wear four different dresses per month, which could be a good deal during the spring and autumn months when a lot of weddings take place. There are no limits on borrowing, and if you like a particular dress, you can even buy it for a discounted price.

The Clozet

The Clozet has made receiving and returning both dresses and bags as logistically easy as possible, with several options including delivery to home lockers (common in many apartment buildings in Korea) or even subway storage lockers, as well as premium rapid delivery if it’s urgent. The company also makes sure bags are in good condition, and takes care of the laundry side of things.

“The Clozet is trying out new partnerships with various delivery and rental companies to improve convenience,” said CEO Juhee Seong in a recent interview with VentureSquare. “Through global strategies, we plan to grow into the most easy-to-use peer-to-peer bag platform.”

The startup received seed funding from an undisclosed Silicon Valley VC which was used to launch the company, and so far the startup has seen 1000% growth from last year.
