Remember lands 5 billion won investment from Naver

Remember remember? Drama and Company, the startup behind the popular business card app, has just reeled in 5 billion won (USD $4.48m) in funding from Naver.

In case you’ve forgotten, Remember lets you scan business cards directly into your phone so you don’t have to manually enter in details manually one-by-one. There are several other apps on the market that do the same, but pretty much all of these use OCR (optical character recognition) which can result inaccurate entries. Remember, on the other hand, has a team of “typists” that will look at the image of the business card and accurately enter all the details into the correct fields. Users can then use Remember as a digital Rolodex, or save contacts directly into their phone’s address book.

In July, the service also added a social element to the app, making it easier to network with those in your address book in a more casual way. Another recent addition that is still in beta is a team tab that lets you share your contacts with a group. This is super useful to instantly share important contacts and clients across your company or team.

Having used the app myself for the past six months, it’s definitely been great to be able to scan in business cards from people you meet at conferences or networking parties and not have to think twice about if the OCR has picked up the details properly and put then into the right fields. The only disadvantage is that it’s not instant, but despite this I’ve found that details get saved rather quickly — almost immediately for Korean, and around 5-15 minutes for English cards.

Remember has now become a must-have app in Korea’s business world, with more than 1200 typists inputting up to 160,000 business cards everyday. The platform is available on iOS, Android, PC and browser making it easy to access from anywhere.
