A PC version of Agit, Kakao’s business messenger community service, has finally been released one year after the platform was first launched.
Agit is designed to make communication within businesses more efficient and less restricting, while also keeping track of data. One of the goals is to replace the cumbersome toing and froing of sending emails and replacing it with a group discussion board where users can write comments and manage the history of work interactions.
The platform includes all the standard features you’d expect from a modern messaging platform such as mentioning users, push notifications and free calling. While the service was previously only available on mobile, it makes sense to have a PC version as a majority of workers spend most of their time in the office.
Agit is available for both Windows and Mac as a standalone app, in addition to being supported on both the App Store and the Google Play store. You’ll see a lot of familiar things from other messengers like Slack such as availability and forced push notifications. However, unlike Slack, Agit doesn’t have any user or capacity restrictions and is completely free for anyone to use.
Other companies have taken a keen interest in Kakao Corp using Agit internally as a horizontal communication hub for employees. Over 10,000 “Agits” or message boards have been created in the year since launching and is being used by many industries including franchising, IT and finance.
