Naver recently announced that it would be investing 30 billion won into the development of a new format of sound content based on technology that uses voice platforms such as Amica and nVoice.
The conglomerate said that it plans to invest 10 billion won over three years into producers who create audio content using new voice technology. Content using the new technology is more scalable and less restrictive than other formats.
“Content creators will be able to utilize the voice-related technologies that are used in Amica (artificial intelligence dialog system), nVoice (voice synthesis technology), and translation and interpretation technology, to create speciliazed and knowledge-based content,” said a spokesperson for the company. “We will invest a total of 30 billion won to create new audio content in a way that has not been done before.”
In addition to this, Naver is planning to launch its beta service of a ‘Voice Control Platform’ with functions that can be operated simply by voice. The company will also carry out various experiments with content creators, with plans to form a new audio content ecosystem that can be utilized in next generation platforms.
“We believe that the field of knowledge-based audio content can grow solidly with user feedback, because it is experimental. It is early in the technology application roadmap, but early next year we plan to have a beta version of the audio content service ready.”
Naver has also used audio and voice techonology throughout its services already with audio news, dictionary pronunciations, translator text to speech, audiobooks, and an open API.
