D.CAMP announced that a start-up street festival, IF (Imagine Future 2018) will take place on Sinchon Yonsei-ro Street in Seoul on the 29th and 30th of September.
IF 2018 is a platform-type festival where business content reaches the public audience through events, promotions, performance, conferences and exhibition parties instead of the indoor exhibition centers. It aims to become a public-centered festival breaking the heavy atmosphere.
Last year, the first IF festival was joined by 107 startups and 30,000 citizens. This year, 93 startup enterprises have confirmed their participation. At this year’s festival, D.TALKS, a brand of D.CAMP, will be held under the topic ‘The Path of Entrepreneurs.’ Also, WAUG CEO Woo Yoon Sun, Tal-ing CEO Yoon Whan Kim, Content Director Review Kim and Youtube Creator Ji Won Ha of more than 250,000 subscribers are going to deliver lectures back-to-back. Taeyong, whose Youtube videos about the entrepreneurs have recorded more than 4 million cumulative views, will host the talks to deal with the issues and concerns of the startup entrepreneurs. There will also be the Young Entrepreneurs of Startup(YES) Demo Day which will be participated by six startups started by college students.
With the first event attracting big audiences last year, D.CAMP itself assessed the IF festival to be able to be on par with the global startup festivals like TechCrunch Disrupt and South by Southwest from the US or Slush from Finland. It also underscored that the festival will organically connect three elements of startup ecosystem including investment, spaces and network and support various entrepreneurial activities. Hong Il Kim, Head of the D.CAMP center said that he hopes the startup street festival, which is designed to share the innovative culture of the startup field with the public, can be an opportunity to help increase people’s interests in the startups and to get closer to the public.
