Meal service for diabetics Dr. Kitchen lands 2.3 billion won in funding

Healthcare startup Dr. Kitchen has raised 2.3 billion won (USD $2.02) in investment from Global Environment Tech and Mirae Asset Ventures.

Founded in July 2015, Dr. Kitchen provides healthy food options for people with diabetes. The platform helps diabetics manage meals with medically approved low-salt dishes. With over 400 different items on the menu, Dr. Kitchen says that the response so far has been positive.

The latest funding round was led by Global Environment Tech which invested 1.3 billion won in the service, with the remaining 1 billion from Mirae Asset Ventures. It brings the startup’s total venture capital to 3.7 billion won following 1.4 billion won in Series B funding from K Cube Ventures in August last year.

Dr. Kitchen is currently working on upgrading its business model by working together with hospitals and companies. It is carrying out research at Samsung Medical Center and other major hospitals to verify the effectiveness of its product, while also focusing on producing dietary content and diabetic solutions with pharmaceutical and medical device companies.

“Since April last year, Dr. Kitchen has maintained rapid growth of 10-15% per month,” says CEO Park Jae-yeon. “Through this funding round, we plan to expand our investment and research into illnesses other than diabetes, including cancer and high blood pressure.
