Graphics and AR/VR company FXGear has set up an FXMirror at Incheon International Airport for local travelers and overseas tourists to try out as they pass through Korea.

FXMirror is a live augmented reality mirror for retail clothing stores that allows customers to see clothes on themselves without having to actually try them on directly. Marketed as a virtual fitting solution, the FXMirror detects your size and displays 3D garments on your body with its 3D imaging processor, instantly matching body movements.

Accompanying app ‘Fit’n Shop’ extends the experience by transferring over your measurements to the app and letting you view different clothes on an avatar of yourself from your smartphone.

FXGear has installed its device on the 4th floor at Incheon’s International Airport’s transfer facility so that passengers traveling through Korea can try out the AR technology. Up to 70 different types of clothing can be “tried on”, including flight attendant uniforms and costumes. The device is also being used to promote Korean tourism with its traditional Korean dress options.

The company is keen to showcase its technology to an overseas audience and this isn’t the first time one of the mirrors has been installed in a global location. Last December, FXGear entered the Chinese fashion and shopping market with an FXMirror placed at a department store in Nanjing. Devices can also be found at several department stores here in Korea.

“FXMirror is gaining popularity in the fashion and distribution industry by offering a comprehensive fitting experience through its AR technology,” says CEO Choi Gwang-jin. “I’m pleased that we can show off Korea’s beautiful clothing through this latest installation at Incheon International Airport and spread the word about our high quality AR technology, even by world standards. As Korea’s leading AR and VR company, we will continue to spur new trends that combine IT and fashion.”
