Holiday package platform Tviceket has received funding and been acquired by Incheon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation Fund operated by UTC Investment. Following the startup’s angel investment received in January, it’s the second investment this year.
Tviceket is a platform that offers holiday products and packages at more reasonable prices than booking when at your destination. Users send in information about the type of holiday they’d like to take, along with their schedule for ‘T-friends’ to see. T-friends are partners that Tviceket has teamed up with and are based at holiday locations. These partners then send through a quote and itinerary that matches the request, and users pick the one they like the most.
Most T-friends are travel agents or local guides that can offer users better prices through Tviceket’s service. Having such partners means more competition for travel products, as well as packages to places that travel agents wouldn’t normally take you. International students, freelancers, and Korean immigrants can also become T-friends to help support travelers and earn a little money for themselves.
Tviceket already has over 1000 T-friends on standby in its five main regions: China, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam and Taiwan, and says it will continue to increase this number.
“We will create a safe and pleasant service environment, mitigating concerns that people have around paying for travel products,” says Joo Young-uk, CEO of Tviceket. “Going forward, we also plan to create a travel service for tourists visiting Korea.”
Outside of the two investments received this year, Tviceket also gained funding from the Korea Tourism Organization and the Incheon Center for Creative Economy and Innovation prior to launching, after receiving recognition for the potential of its service
