Weekly Shirts has raised 500 million won (USD $442,000) in a seed funding round led by K Cube Ventures and including D.camp and The Yoonmin Foundation.
As you might have guessed from the name, Weekly Shirts is a shirt rental service specializing in delivering men’s business shirts every week. Aimed at office workers, the company was founded by Kim Tae-hyun in October last year as a way to reduce stress. Shirts can be delivered to anyone living in Seoul or the Bundang area of Gyeonggi Province.
Like the other shirt subscription service ‘Shirts Butler’ that we introduced last week, Weekly Shirts are also delivered, washed and ironed, directly to your door overnight. Shirts from the previous week can be hung outside and are collected at the same time.
“Having recently set up a store on Lotte Rental’s platform ‘Myomee’ we are gradually expanding to become closer to consumers,” says Kim. “Through this investment we plan to focus on increasing customer satisfaction by producing a wider variety of shirts and making deliveries more efficient.”
K Cube Ventures Partner Shina Chung also commented on the investment. “We recognize Weekly Shirts as a rental service that reflects the needs of people in this day and age and takes into account convenience and cost effectiveness,” said Chung. “Going forward, we will actively support Weekly Shirts to develop an innovative business structure and bring in stable revenue.”
The number of clothing rental services continues to increase in Seoul and some surrounding areas. While many of these startups are still young, it would be great to see similar services pop up in other major cities around the country.
